Here are just a few of the projects I've worked on:
starling – word counting baby wearable
Project was for the mass production of a microphone-enabled baby wearable with a suite of attachment accessories and a custom charging dock.
Individual responsibilities included: 3d print prototyping, mechanical detailing of injection molded plastic parts, stamped/formed/turned metal parts and die cut labels/adhesives, close collaboration with electrical engineering design team, design and testing for IPX7 waterproofing, release package generation, Design for Manufacture (DFM), part/tool verification, New Product Introduction (NPI), laser etching, pad printing, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) support, and Quality Assurance (QA) testing. Required travel to China.
osmo for iphone – educational gaming phone accessory
Project was to reduce the part count of an existing design while maintaining the look and feel of the product.
Individual responsibilities included generating and presenting several different assembly architectures with varying cosmetic, functional and manufacturing trade-offs, 3d prototyping and initial mechanical detailing of injection molded plastics.
woo sports – kite-boarding activity tracker
Project was for the mass production of a ruggedized, waterproof activity tracker for kite-boarding with a mount and custom charging dock.
Individual responsibilities included 3d print prototyping, part/tool verification, design for ultrasonic welding, laser etching, and design/testing for IPX7 waterproofing. Required travel to China.
nectar – ultrasonic bar inventory management
Project was to shrink existing proof-of-concept technology into a reliable prototype to use for market testing.
Individual responsibilities included the use of rapid prototyping to generate, test and iterate dozens of geometries/assemblies, keeping detailed records on the efficacy of the assorted designs, and using those results as a guide for the architecture of a small batch of fully functional prototypes.
Project was for a fully-functional prototype of a wall-mounted, wood-framed 49” digital art canvas.
Individual responsibilities included assembly architecture design, 3d print prototyping, mechanical detailing of machined plastic and metal, close collaboration with machine/paint shops and final assembly.
t-mobile/mlb – wireless bullpen phone/tower
Project was for a short production run of completely redesigned MLB bullpen phone towers.
Individual responsibilities included DFM, part/tool verification, NPI, thermal testing, speaker reliability testing, field installation and testing.
flip&twist- holding pattern computer/visualizer
Project was for a small production run of a holding pattern computer based off of a physical prototype.
Individual responsibilities included engineering design for large scale manufacturing, computer-aided design (CAD), international manufacturer selection based on price and quality criteria, manufacturing and design refinements through review of first articles, overview of pilot production and international S&H, direction of media and website design, creation and supervision of online advertising and sales.
And there’s plenty more where that came from!
Feel free to contact me to discuss other projects I’ve contributed to (or could contribute to).
